O'HARA, THEODORE.
Born in Danville, Kentucky, 1820; died in Guerryton, Alabama,
1867. Theodore O'Hara was distinctly the soldier poet, having
served in the Mexican War and in the Confederate army during
the Civil War. His fame rests upon the noble poem, "The
Bivouac of the Dead," written as a memorial to the Kentuckians
who fell at Buena Vista. |
